BEFORE Attending Adoptions

The med summary sheet is found at the bottom of every training. here we highlight important features. Notice some things must be done before the cat cat come to adoptions. The cat/kitten MUST be spayed/neutered and their clinic paperwork must be present with them at adoptions. Also, at least one FVRCP vaccine must have been given 7 days before attending adoptions so that the immune response has time to give some protection to the cat.

We prefer the cats/kittens to have been on dewormer for 6 weeks to kill off the roundworm lifecycle in the cat. But it depends on the background of the cat for when to start bringing to adoptions, so this is a gray area. Obviously, a house cat does not have the same worm load as a kitten from a TNVR colony.

Before attending adoptions all cats must be healthy and free of fleas. If they have loose stool they must be fully treated for worms and other parasites before attending.

They also must have flea protection and if large enough tick protection.
